SpicyChat vs PolyBuzz looks like a close call on the price tag: SpicyChat starts at $5.95 a month and PolyBuzz at $9.90. It stops being close once you ask what each one charges for memory, because that is where most people decide to pay. PolyBuzz keeps Permanent Memory on its $29.90 Ultimate plan. SpicyChat switches on its automatic memory at $19.95. We read SpicyChat's own documentation and Apple's PolyBuzz listing on 6 and 7 October 2026. Here is what each one costs and who should pay for which. This is for adults 18 and over.

SpicyChat vs PolyBuzz, the short answer

Pay for SpicyChat if memory and long sessions are why you are paying, because True Supporter at $19.95 gives you automatic memory and twice the free context, $10 less than PolyBuzz charges for Permanent Memory. It also sells every tier yearly, which PolyBuzz does not. Pay for PolyBuzz if you want a proper iPhone app, Apple or Google handling your billing and refunds, and the biggest character library in the category. Pay for neither if you want one companion who remembers you without tiers or coins; that case is at the end.

What SpicyChat and PolyBuzz cost, side by side

SpicyChat's prices come from its September 2026 pricing update FAQ, which raised every tier on 8 September 2026. PolyBuzz's come from Apple's in-app purchase list for app 6449190344, seller CLOUD WHALE INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGY LLC, re-read on 7 October 2026 and unchanged since August. The feature rows come from SpicyChat's premium features and tokens pages and from PolyBuzz's own membership table.

The middle and top plans are a dead heat on price, 5 cents apart at each level. The real gaps are elsewhere: when memory switches on, whether you can pay for a year, and whether there is a second currency on top of the subscription.

Is SpicyChat cheaper than PolyBuzz?

On the cheapest plan, yes. SpicyChat Get A Taste is $5.95 a month and PolyBuzz Standard is $9.90, so SpicyChat saves you $47.40 a year at the entry level. Watch the PolyBuzz weekly plan, though. At $4.99 a week it looks cheaper than both, but it renews 52 times a year, which comes to $259.48, more than twice the $118.80 you pay on PolyBuzz Standard monthly.

The catch on SpicyChat's side is that Get A Taste does not improve memory. SpicyChat's tokens and context page gives it the same 4,096 token context and the same 180 token reply cap as the free tier. You are paying $5.95 mainly to remove ads. We break the tiers down on our SpicyChat pricing page.

Which one remembers you for less?

SpicyChat, by $10 a month. Its automatic memory, Semantic Memory 2.0, is on True Supporter at $19.95 and on I'm All In. True Supporter also doubles the context to 8,192 tokens and raises replies to 300 tokens. PolyBuzz's membership table, which we read on 27 September 2026, ticks Permanent Memory for Ultimate only, so the PolyBuzz plan that keeps details long term is the $29.90 one. Premium at $19.90 has Long Memory but not Permanent Memory.

Over a year that gap is $120 on monthly billing, and more if you take SpicyChat's annual price of $199.95 against PolyBuzz's $358.80 for twelve months of Ultimate. We explain exactly what PolyBuzz's extra $10 buys on our PolyBuzz Ultimate subscription page; the short version is that it buys Permanent Memory and four chat models, and nothing else.

One honest limit on SpicyChat's side: its 32,768 token maximum needs I'm All In at $29.95 and a model that supports 32K. On a 16K model, you get 16K whatever you pay.

PolyBuzz coins and Opals, the second bill SpicyChat does not have

PolyBuzz sells two currencies on top of every plan. Apple's list shows coins at 1,000 for $2.49, 3,000 for $4.99 and 8,000 for $9.99, and Opals at 1,000 for $5.90 or 4,000 for $19.90. PolyBuzz spends them on things like regenerating replies, longer voice and memory scenes. None of the PolyBuzz subscription tiers lists coins as included in its membership table.

SpicyChat has no currency at all. What you pay for the tier is what you pay. If you are the kind of user who regenerates a reply five times to get the right one, that difference matters more than the 5 cents between the plans. Our PolyBuzz pricing page lists every product on Apple's list.

Billing, refunds and the iPhone question

This is where PolyBuzz wins outright. It is a normal app on the App Store and Google Play, so Apple or Google bill you, you cancel from your phone's subscription settings, and you can ask the store for a refund. The app holds 481,385 US ratings at 4.4 stars, which is about as established as this category gets.

SpicyChat bills on its own website. Its official iPhone app was removed from the App Store in August 2025 and the Android version is an APK from its site. You pay by card, Pay By Bank, Boosty or crypto through CoinPayments, and you manage the plan at its subscription portal. Its documentation publishes no refund policy and does not say what name shows on your card statement. If either matters to you, ask SpicyChat support before paying.

SpicyChat's annual plans partly make up for this. Every tier can be bought for a year at about 16 percent off: $60.00, $199.95 or $299.95. A pre-September subscriber who never changes plan keeps the old, lower price, but any upgrade or a lapsed payment moves them to the new list.

Is SpicyChat better than PolyBuzz?

For a paying user who wants long roleplay sessions that stay coherent, SpicyChat is the better buy in October 2026. Memory starts $10 lower, there is no currency to top up, and the annual plan cuts the bill further. For a user who mainly chats on an iPhone, wants the store to handle billing, and likes browsing millions of characters, PolyBuzz is the better buy, and its $9.90 Standard plan is fine for that.

Both have weaknesses the other does not. SpicyChat raised every price a month ago and has no iPhone app. PolyBuzz charges top price for memory and layers two currencies on top. If you are comparing a third option, our SpicyChat vs Janitor AI pricing breakdown shows why Janitor+ at $12.99 beats both on raw context.

Who should pay for which

  • Pay for SpicyChat True Supporter if you roleplay for hours and want characters to keep the plot. $19.95, or $199.95 a year.
  • Pay for PolyBuzz Standard if you chat casually on your phone and want Apple or Google billing. $9.90 a month, never the weekly plan.
  • Pay for PolyBuzz Ultimate only if you are already settled on PolyBuzz and memory is the problem. $29.90.
  • Skip SpicyChat Get A Taste if you are paying for memory. It has the same context as free.
  • Look elsewhere if images are the point. Image-first platforms price very differently; see what the coins really buy on our OurDream AI pricing page.

When neither is the right purchase

Both SpicyChat and PolyBuzz are character libraries. You browse, pick a character, and the memory you buy is spread over whatever you chat with. If what you actually want is one girlfriend who knows your week, remembers what you told her last month and checks in on you, both apps make you pay their top or near-top tier for it, and you still manage models, tokens or coins.

Tempted.ai is built the other way round. You get one companion with long-term memory on every plan, no tokens, no context sizes and no currency, from $9 a month billed yearly or $12 month to month. On the Flame plan she texts you first. It runs in any phone browser, including Safari on iPhone, so the missing SpicyChat app is not a problem here either. If a single companion who reaches out is what you are after, you can also compare an AI girlfriend who texts you first before deciding. Ava is at the top of this page if you want to try a conversation first, and our SpicyChat alternative page compares the wider field.
