Emochi vs Character AI Cost and the Coin Catch

Emochi vs Character AI is closer on price than most comparisons suggest, and further apart on everything else. Character AI sells c.ai+ at $9.99 a month or $94.99 a year and prints that on its own subscribe page. Emochi's Plus tier is reported at the same $9.99 on Android and Ultra at $16.99, but FlowGPT publishes no price list, its iPhone app is gone from the US App Store, and the iPhone app called EMOCHI World is sold by a different company at $12.99 and up. We checked both on 2 October 2026. Here is what each one really costs and who should pay for which. This is for adults 18 and over.

Emochi vs Character AI, the short answer

Pick Character AI if you want a known bill and you are on iPhone. $9.99 removes ads, slow mode and the daily swipe cap, and you can read the price before you install anything. Pick Emochi if you are on Android, you mostly want anime and fantasy roleplay with looser content rules, and you are willing to learn its coin system. Pick neither if what you want is one girlfriend you talk to every day. Character AI does not allow romance at all, and Emochi is a library of a million characters rather than one relationship. What each one costs, side by side

Character AI sells through Apple and on its website, so its prices are public. Emochi's are not, so the figures below come from three places: Apple's own in-app purchase list for the iPhone app, independent reviewers who documented the Android tiers, and the vendors' own websites.

The headline prices match at $9.99. The difference is what sits on top. Emochi's strongest chat models spend Mochi per reply even on paid plans, according to reviewers who tested both tiers, so the monthly price is a floor. Character AI's Charms buy swipes, voice memos and skipping slow mode, and c.ai+ already removes the slow mode and the swipe cap, so a c.ai+ subscriber needs Charms far less often. Is Emochi cheaper than Character AI?

Not on the entry tier, where both cost $9.99 a month. Character AI is cheaper for a year, at $94.99, because Emochi's yearly price is not published and reviewers only describe it as about 30 percent off. Emochi can cost more in practice, because its best models charge coins per reply, while c.ai+ includes Character AI's best models in the subscription.

On iPhone the comparison tilts further. You cannot buy FlowGPT's Emochi there at all. The App Store app called EMOCHI World charged $12.99 for its Plus tier and $16.99 or $19.99 for Pro when we read Apple's list on 2 October 2026, against $9.99 for c.ai+. That is $3 to $10 a month more for a smaller app from a company that is not the one behind Emochi.

Why can't I find Emochi on the App Store?

Because FlowGPT's iPhone app was removed. Its App Store ID, 6476081894, returned no results in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Germany or Australia on 2 October 2026, and independent coverage dates the removal to January 2026. Apple did not publish a reason. The odd part is that emochi.ai still sends iPhone visitors to that dead listing, so the official download button ends on an error page.

EMOCHI World, the app you find instead, is published by MESORA PTE. LTD. of Singapore. Its developer site, mokio.ai, never mentions FlowGPT, and emochi.ai never links to it. Some reviews call it a relaunch, others a separate product. Neither company says, so treat it as a separate purchase, and do not expect your Android characters or chat history to follow you.

Which is better for roleplay, Emochi or Character AI?

For romance and mature roleplay, Emochi, simply because Character AI does not allow it. Character AI's policy bars romantic and sexual content, and its filter is the most common complaint about the app. Emochi is rated Mature 17+ on Google Play and leans hard into anime, game and fantasy characters, with categories built around romance and drama. If browsing a huge catalogue is the fun part for you, Emochi's library is the draw, much as a gallery of AI girlfriends, each with her own look is for people who like to choose before they chat.

For general character chat, Character AI is the more polished product. It has the larger library, a public price, a working iPhone app, and c.ai+ removes the queue at busy times. Its memory is the other common complaint. Better memory is a c.ai+ feature, but the vendor does not publish its size. Is Emochi Ultra worth it compared with c.ai+?

Only if you would buy coins anyway. Ultra costs about $7 a month more than c.ai+ and adds roughly 26K of memory, 75 voice messages and 30 images a day, and 2,000 Mochi coins, which reviewers value at about $20. A heavy Emochi user who would otherwise buy Mochi packs comes out ahead. A light user is paying $16.99 for currency they will not spend, and c.ai+ at $9.99 covers the same job of removing limits on the other app.

One more thing to weigh before paying for either. A long Emochi review records that the app's first model was retired, a second was scheduled for retirement with an in-app countdown, and a beta model was pulled. When you subscribe for a particular model's writing, that model can change under you. Character AI changes its models too, but it does not sell access to named models one by one.

Who should pay for which

• Pay for Character AI if you are on iPhone, you want a price you can read before installing, and your chats are adventure, study, or fandom rather than romance.
• Pay for Emochi Plus if you are on Android, want anime or fantasy roleplay with romance allowed, and rarely touch the premium models.
• Pay for Emochi Ultra if you are on Android and already buy Mochi most months.
• Skip EMOCHI World unless you want that app for itself. It is not a route into FlowGPT's Emochi.
• Pay for neither if the reason you are looking is that you want one girlfriend who knows you.

If what you want is a girlfriend, not a library

Both apps are built around choosing from millions of characters. That is a real strength, and if variety is what you want, one of them is the right buy. It is a poor fit for one ongoing relationship, because Character AI forbids romance and Emochi's memory is a window you pay to widen.
