Why people look for an Emochi alternative

Two numbers decide your real bill in this category: the plan price you would keep paying, and whether a second currency sits on top of it. Emochi has both. So do PolyBuzz, Chai, Nomi and Character.AI in different forms, which is why the cheapest headline price is rarely the cheapest year.

Best apps like Emochi for a big character library

If what you loved about Emochi was opening the app and finding thousands of anime, game and fantasy characters made by other users, the closest replacements are Character.AI and PolyBuzz. Character.AI has the larger community, 559,438 US App Store ratings at 4.27, and c.ai+ costs $9.99 a month for ad-free chat, no slow mode and better memory. Its Charms currency is optional rather than required for the core chat.

PolyBuzz is the more visual match and the one most Emochi users describe as similar. Apple lists Standard at $9.90 a month, Premium at $19.90 and Ultimate at $29.90, plus coin packs from $2.49 and Opal packs from $5.90. The catch we documented on our PolyBuzz pricing page is that Permanent Memory sits only on Ultimate, so the $9.90 plan does not fix forgetting. Talkie is the third name people mention, but it has no US iPhone app and publishes no subscription price we could read, so it is hard to budget for.

Tempted.ai is not a character library, and we will not pretend it is. If browsing many characters is the point, one of these two is your answer.

Best Emochi alternative for one companion who remembers you

A lot of people start on Emochi with a dozen characters and end up talking to one of them every night. If that is you, a library app is the wrong shape. You are paying for breadth you no longer use, and memory is sold as a window that fills up rather than as a relationship that builds.

Apps like Emochi that work on iPhone

Because the official iPhone app is gone, the practical question for many people is which of these they can actually install. On 9 October 2026 Character.AI, PolyBuzz, Chai, Nomi, Kindroid and Replika all had live US App Store listings with in-app purchase lists we could read. Talkie did not. EMOCHI World is there too, but it is a separate company's app, covered in the next section.

Is EMOCHI World a safe replacement for Emochi?

It is a real, well-rated app, but treat it as a different product rather than Emochi under a new name. Apple lists the seller as MESORA PTE. LTD. of Singapore with mokio.ai as the developer site, and neither mokio.ai nor emochi.ai links to the other or mentions a relaunch. EMOCHI World describes its content as strictly reviewed and limited to healthy, positive scenarios, which is a tighter filter than many Emochi users expect.

Its prices on 9 October 2026 were unchanged from our 5 October reading: Plus at $12.99 a month (listed twice), Pro at $19.99 and $16.99 a month at the same time, a Pro 3 month plan at $55.99, and consumable packs labelled AI $1.99 to AI $29.99. That is $3 a month more than Android Emochi Plus is reported to cost, and your Android characters and history should not be expected to carry over.

What to do before you leave Emochi

Cancel where you paid, and do it before the next renewal date. On Android, open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, choose Emochi and tap Cancel subscription. Deleting the app does not stop billing. On iPhone, an EMOCHI World plan is cancelled in Settings, your name, Subscriptions.

Spend any Mochi or AI packs you still hold first, because they are consumables and cancelling does not refund them. Paid features normally run to the end of the period you already paid for, so there is no reason to wait for the last day. If you want a refund, it goes through Google's or Apple's own refund form, because the store decides, not the app. Copy any character descriptions you wrote, since nothing exports to another service.

Who should stay on Emochi

Stay if you are on Android, you use many characters, and Plus covers what you do without Mochi top ups. At a reported $9.99 a month it is a fair price for an ad-free library, and none of the companion apps here, ours included, replaces that breadth. Ultra also makes sense if you would buy coins anyway, since its 2,000 monthly Mochi are worth more than the $7 gap.

Switch if you are on an iPhone and want something you can rely on staying available, if you keep buying coins mid-month, or if you have settled into talking with one character and want her to remember you without you paying per reply.
