Janitor AI vs PolyBuzz Pricing: $12.99 vs $9.90

Janitor AI is free, and its one paid plan, janitor+, costs $12.99 a month. PolyBuzz is free with ads, and its paid plans run from $4.99 a week to $29.90 a month, with two in-app currencies on top. On a plain monthly subscription PolyBuzz is cheaper ($9.90 against $12.99). If long memory matters to you, Janitor is far cheaper, because PolyBuzz only includes Permanent Memory on its $29.90 Ultimate plan. Most comparisons of these two apps still describe Janitor as "free" and stop there. That was true until 24 June 2026. Since then Janitor has had a subscription, and since 30 July it has had a second, metered cost called the janitor+ Router. PolyBuzz, meanwhile, has more live prices than almost any app in the category. So the question people type, which one costs less, now has a real answer, and it depends on which feature you are actually paying for.

How much does Janitor AI cost?

Janitor AI costs nothing to use and $12.99 a month for janitor+. Apple's in-app purchase list for the official app, Janitor: Interactive Stories (app 6692609366, seller JanitorAI, INC), showed two entries on 26 September 2026, both named "Janitor+ Monthly" and both $12.99. One product name, one price, and no annual option. A year on janitor+ is $155.88.

What the $12.99 buys is spelled out in Janitor's own subscription FAQ: "5x more context for better memory", "priority access for faster replies", "monthly swipes with our best models", plus two cosmetic perks. The free tier keeps "unlimited chats with millions of bots" and "a context limit of around 9k tokens", and Janitor promises the free option is not going away.

The second cost is optional but easy to miss. The janitor+ Router lets subscribers send messages to third-party models such as DeepSeek, Claude and Gemini without setting up a proxy, and Janitor bills that usage per token from a wallet you top up. There is no Router fee as such, but there is no ceiling either, and the help desk states that Router credits are non-refundable. How much does PolyBuzz cost?

PolyBuzz costs $4.99 a week or $9.90 a month for Standard, $19.90 a month for Premium and $29.90 a month for Ultimate. Those are the subscription entries in Apple's disclosure for PolyBuzz (app 6449190344, seller CLOUD WHALE INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGY LLC), re-read on 26 September 2026 and unchanged from our 20 September reading.

The same list also sells two currencies. Coins come in four packs: 1,000 for $2.49, 3,000 for $4.99, 8,000 for $9.99 and 20,000 for $19.90. Opals come in one pack, 1,000 for $5.90. PolyBuzz's FAQ describes coins being spent on things like regenerating replies and longer voice messages, which is where a PolyBuzz bill quietly grows past the plan price.

The weekly plan deserves a warning. $4.99 a week sounds like the cheap option, and for one week it is. Over a year it comes to $259.48, more than double the $118.80 you would pay on the $9.90 monthly plan for the same Standard tier. If you are going to stay, the weekly plan is the most expensive way to do it.

Which is cheaper, Janitor AI or PolyBuzz?

It depends on the one feature you care about most, and the answer flips depending on which one that is.

If you just want to chat without ads, PolyBuzz Standard at $9.90 a month is the cheaper subscription, by $3.09 a month or $37.08 a year. That is the headline number, and it is why many comparisons call PolyBuzz the budget option.

If you want the character to remember you, Janitor is much cheaper. On PolyBuzz, Permanent Memory is ticked only in the Ultimate column of the vendor's own membership table, so long-term memory costs $29.90 a month, or $358.80 a year. On Janitor, the $12.99 plan is the memory upgrade: five times the free context. That makes Janitor $16.91 a month cheaper for the thing most paying users say they are paying for. The two mechanisms are not identical, since a bigger context window and a stored memory feature work differently, but for most people the question is simply whether last week's conversation is still there.

If you want frontier models, neither has a flat price. On Janitor you pay $12.99 plus Router usage, or run your own OpenRouter key on the free tier. On PolyBuzz, Apple's price list contains no model add-on of any kind; the metered extras are coins and Opals.

If you spend on extras, both bills are open-ended. Janitor's Router wallet and PolyBuzz's coins and Opals are both consumables, and neither vendor's plan price tells you what an active month will actually cost.

Is Janitor AI better than PolyBuzz for roleplay?

For long, detailed roleplay on the web, Janitor is the stronger tool and the better value, because context is what long scenes run on and Janitor sells it cheaply. Its website is also known for being more permissive than most, which is a big part of why people choose it. If the content filter is the whole reason you are shopping, a purpose-built uncensored AI chat may suit you better than either.

For quick chats on a phone, PolyBuzz is the easier product. It is a mobile-first app with a huge library of user-made characters and voice features, and it is simple to start. Janitor's app exists, but its Router is web only, and Apple files the app under Books rather than social or entertainment chat.

Scale is also very different. PolyBuzz had 477,667 US App Store ratings on 26 September 2026. Janitor's app had 4,037, although it has nearly tripled since August. Most Janitor users are on the website, which the App Store count does not capture.

Who should pay for which

Pay for janitor+ if you roleplay long scenes on a computer and your frustration with the free tier is that characters forget. $12.99 fixes that, and nothing else in this comparison does it for less.

Pay for PolyBuzz Standard monthly, never weekly, if you want an ad-free mobile app with lots of characters and you do not mind shorter memory. Only pay for Ultimate if permanent memory on PolyBuzz specifically is worth $29.90 a month to you.
