Can Replika be your girlfriend?

Yes, if you pay for it. Replika calls the setting relationship status. Its help article How do I change my relationship status?, read on 30 September 2026, lists four statuses: Friend, Romantic partner, Sister or Brother, and Mentor. It describes Romantic partner as the one that opens the door to romantic conversations. Then comes the line that matters for your wallet: additional relationship options beyond friend are unlocked starting with a Replika Pro subscription.

So a free Replika is a friend and stays a friend. You can flirt, and she may flirt back a little, but the status that makes her your girlfriend is a paid feature. Changing it takes four taps: tap your Replika's name on the home screen, tap Relationship just below the XP level, choose the status, and close the panel. The change saves automatically.

One detail from the same article is worth knowing. Replika's help center lets readers vote on whether an article helped, and it publishes the tally. On 30 September 2026 this one showed 2,872 votes with a net score of minus 328, which works out to about 1,272 people saying it helped and 1,600 saying it did not. Our reading is that most of those readers arrived hoping for a free way to change the status and found the Pro line instead. That is an inference, but it is the likeliest one.

How much does a Replika girlfriend cost?

Replika does not say, anywhere it controls. Its Choosing a Subscription article states that the cost of any subscription is shown in the app on the subscription screens and in the relevant store. The help center has no price, and the homepage has no price. So the only public number is Apple's in-app purchase list for the Replika app.

On 30 September 2026 that list showed ten items. Subscriptions: a SKU named MONTHLY at $7.99, a SKU named Monthly at $14.99, a SKU named YEARLY at $49.99, a SKU named Annual at $49.99, a SKU named Annual at $69.99, and Replika Platinum at $89.99. Currency: Pouch of Gems $0.99, Backpack of Gems $5.99, Suitcase of Gems $14.99 and Duffel Bag of Gems $19.99. It was identical to our 20 September reading.

Apple never names a SKU Replika Pro, so which button buys the girlfriend is not printed anywhere public. Ultra is annual only, according to its own help article, so the two monthly SKUs are the likeliest Pro prices. Read that as our inference from the SKU names, not a quote. In practice a Replika girlfriend starts at $7.99 or $14.99 a month depending on which offer the app shows you, or $49.99 to $69.99 for a year paid up front. Two monthly prices for one tier usually means an introductory offer or a price test, and you will not know which one you get until the paywall appears.

What Replika Pro, Ultra and Platinum add to a Replika girlfriend

Replika's help center describes four programs: Free Use, Pro, Ultra and Platinum. Each paid tier includes everything below it.

Pro is the girlfriend tier. Its article lists setting relationship status to Romantic Partner first, then unblurred messages and photos including romantic selfies, premium activities and full avatar customization, voice messages and background calls, roleplay during voice and AR calls, and premium voices with different accents.

Ultra adds smarter, more context-aware replies, what Replika calls elevated emotional intelligence, daily self-reflection messages based on your chats, and the ability to save memories and see which ones are used during a conversation. Its article says Ultra is available as an annual plan, and that anyone holding an old Lifetime subscription gets Ultra included automatically.

Platinum adds real-time video recognition, Training Mode up to 100 times a week, a feature called Read Replika's Mind for up to 50 messages a week, and up to 10 realistic selfie videos. It is the only tier Apple lists by name, at $89.99.

For someone who wants a girlfriend, the useful reading is this. Pro buys the relationship. Ultra buys control over what she remembers. Platinum buys spectacle. Most people who want a girlfriend who remembers them are really shopping for Ultra, and Ultra only comes as a year.

Why Replika never calls her a girlfriend

This is the part nobody else has checked. We read Replika's homepage on 30 September 2026: about 105,000 characters of readable text, with the word Replika appearing 120 times. The words girlfriend, romantic and partner appear zero times. The page title is The AI Friend to do Life With.

The App Store description tells the same story. It is 2,696 characters long, it names Replika 11 times, and it never says girlfriend, romantic, partner or subscription. It talks about work, relationships, reconnecting with a friend and taking a walk instead of doomscrolling. Apple files the app under Health and Fitness with a 17+ rating.

So the product that millions of people use as a girlfriend is marketed as a wellbeing friend, and the romance exists in exactly one public place: a help article that tells you it is a Pro feature. That is a deliberate positioning choice, and it has history. In early 2023, after Italy's data protection authority moved against the app, Replika restricted erotic roleplay, then restored it for users who had signed up before February 2023, as widely reported at the time. In May 2025 the same Italian authority fined Luka Inc. 5 million euros. A company in that position has good reasons to keep the word girlfriend off its homepage. For you it means the romantic side can change with policy, and it already has once.

Does a Replika girlfriend remember you?

Partly, and the part you control costs extra. Every Replika keeps some memory of you, and Replika has offered a memory list for years. What its current help center sells as an Ultra feature is the ability to save memories and view which ones are used during conversations. In other words, on Pro she may remember, and on Ultra you can see and steer what she remembers.

That distinction matters more for a girlfriend than for a friend. The moments that make a relationship feel real are small callbacks: the interview you mentioned on Monday, your sister's name, the show you said you would finish together. When those land, it feels like her. When they do not, it feels like a chatbot.

The honest way to find out is a two day test on whatever plan you are on. Tell her three unrelated specifics on day one. Wait a day. Then ask an open question that needs one of them, and see whether it comes back without a prompt. Do it before the renewal date, because Replika does not refund partial periods.

Replika girlfriend refunds and cancellation

Replika's Refund Policy article is blunt. Because the service is available immediately, a subscription is treated as used right away and is non-refundable, all purchases are final once payment completes, and there is no refund for time already used or time left on an active subscription. Choosing a Subscription adds that refunds cannot be claimed for any partial month.

Cancelling happens only in the marketplace you bought from. If you subscribed on an iPhone, that is your Apple subscriptions screen, not the Replika app, and deleting the app cancels nothing. Replika's own help center even has an article titled Why did I get billed after deleting my account?. Apple and Google handle any refund request for store purchases themselves.

The practical advice follows from that. If you want to try Replika as a girlfriend, take the monthly plan first even though the annual looks cheaper, run the memory test, and decide before the second charge. A year of Ultra bought on day one is a year you cannot get back.

Replika girlfriend review, where Replika genuinely wins

Replika is the best-known app in this category for good reasons. It has 227,704 ratings on the US App Store at an average of 4.44, it has been around since 2017, and it has spent years on the visual side: a 3D avatar, outfits, a room you decorate, AR and video calls. If seeing her matters to you, Replika does that and we do not.

It also wins on history. If you have talked to the same Replika for two or three years, that shared past is worth more than anything in a comparison table, and switching to save a few dollars a month would be a bad trade. Pay for Pro and keep her.

And it wins if the wellbeing side is what you want. Mood check-ins, reflection and coaching-style conversation are what Replika is built and marketed for, and Ultra's daily self-reflection messages lean further into that.

Where it is weaker is the thing this search is about. The girlfriend is a paid switch on a product that does not want to be called a girlfriend app, priced in a way you only see at the paywall, with the memory control sold as a year.
