Is Candy AI Worth It? Candy AI Pricing, Cost and Tokens

Candy AI is $13.99 a month standard, or $3.99 on the annual plan, which is really $47.88 up front. Token pack prices are not published anywhere. What the five-message free tier really allows, why the charge says EverAI, why every Candy AI in the App Store is somebody else, and a two-day test to run first.

Candy AI is worth it if generating photorealistic images and video of your companion is the main thing you want, and you take the annual plan at $3.99 a month knowing you are paying about $47.88 today. It is poor value if you mainly want someone to talk to, because you would be paying $13.99 a month at the standard rate for a generation engine you barely touch while the features you do want run on a token meter whose prices are not published anywhere. It is a legitimate company, not a scam, and the confusion on that point has a specific and fixable cause. Below is the full accounting, read from Candy AI's own plan page and help centre rather than from review sites.

How much does Candy AI cost?

Candy AI publishes its subscription prices, which already puts it ahead of Replika. The plan page shows a standard rate of $13.99 a month, with two prepaid options discounted against it.

PlanEffective monthlyWhat you actually pay
1 month$13.99$13.99 each month
3 months (35% off)$8.99About $26.97 every three months
12 months (70% off)$3.99About $47.88 up front, once a year

The $3.99 figure is the one that travels, and it needs the caveat. It is the annual plan divided by twelve. Nobody is charged $3.99. You are charged roughly $47.88 today for a year, and the 70 percent discount is calculated against the $13.99 anchor rather than against what a typical subscriber pays. That is standard subscription pricing and there is nothing dishonest about it, but "Candy AI costs $3.99" is a sentence that misleads people about what leaves their account.

Every paid plan includes unlimited text messages, 100 tokens a month, the ability to create your own AI characters, and 18+ image and video generation. There is also a tier above it called Premium Plus, which Candy AI's help centre says includes 230 tokens a month instead of 100, a 10 percent bonus on token top-ups, early access to new characters, and five clone chats. Its price is not shown to logged-out visitors.

What do Candy AI tokens actually cost?

Nobody outside Candy AI can tell you, and any article that quotes you a per-token price is repeating something it did not verify.

Here is why that is unusual. For almost every companion app, when the vendor's own site is vague you can fall back on the Apple App Store in-app purchase list, which discloses every price and which the vendor does not get to design. That trick works on Replika, Character.AI, Nomi, Linky and most of the rest. It does not work here, because Candy AI has no App Store listing at all. And the vendor's own token page, candy.ai/tokens, requires you to sign in before it will show you anything.

So Candy AI's add-on pricing is the least publicly checkable of any major app in this category. You can find out what the meter costs only after you have an account.

What is documented is what the meter runs on. Candy AI's help centre lists tokens as being spent on image generation, creating a custom AI, listening to a voice message, voice calls, unlocking private content packs, and converting a generated image into a video. Text chat is explicitly not metered: the help centre states that regular chatting does not cost tokens and that chat remains accessible even at a zero balance. That is a genuine point in Candy AI's favour and plenty of write-ups get it wrong by implying the meter runs while you talk.

The practical read: 100 tokens a month against image, video and voice generation is a modest allowance for a product whose entire marketing is image, video and voice generation. The subscription is the floor of what you will spend, not the ceiling. If you have ever been surprised by a recurring charge you did not recognise, it is worth having something watching your statements for unexpected charges, because this category is unusually good at producing them.

Is Candy AI legitimate?

Yes, and the reason people ask is worth explaining, because the confusion has one specific source.

Candy AI is operated by EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta, whose address appears in the footer of its own plan page. It runs a published help centre, takes card payments, and has a stated refund policy. That is a real business.

Two things make it look sketchier than it is. The first is the statement descriptor. Candy AI's help centre confirms that the charge appears on your card statement as EverAI, not as Candy AI. People check their statement, see a company they have never heard of, and reasonably assume something has gone wrong. It has not; that is just the operating company's name.

The second is far more likely to actually cost you money. Search the App Store for Candy AI and you will find several apps using the name, published by unrelated individual developers. None of them is Candy AI. We know this from the vendor's own words: its help centre states plainly that Candy.ai does not offer a native mobile app for iOS or Android, and that it ships a progressive web app instead, which you add to your home screen from your browser.

So every "Candy AI" in the App Store is somebody else's product trading on the name. Paying one of them is not paying for Candy AI, and you will not get the thing you were shopping for. Before you pay for any app in this category, check the seller name against the company behind the website. This is not unique to Candy AI: web-first adult products often have no store presence, which leaves the name unclaimed for anyone to take.

What does the free tier let you do?

Less than almost anyone expects, and this is the single most important thing to know before you invest time in it. Candy AI's help centre is precise: free users can send up to 5 messages in chat across all characters, create one custom AI character, and generate one image.

Not five messages per character. Not five a day. Five in total, once.

That is a demo, not a free tier, and it has a consequence that matters when you are deciding whether to pay. The thing you are actually buying from a companion app is conversation quality, and five messages is nowhere near enough to judge it. You can confirm the interface works. You cannot find out whether her writing suits you, whether she holds a personality, or whether she remembers anything, which is the question that decides whether you are still using the product in a month.

Can you get your money back?

Only in a narrow window, and the two conditions interact in a way that catches people.

Candy AI's stated policy is that a refund must be requested within 24 hours of payment, and only if 20 tokens or fewer have been used on the account. Card payments only, so crypto purchases are out, and problems caused by your own device or connection are excluded.

Read those together. The plan includes 100 tokens, generating images is the first thing most people do, and spending more than 20 of them on your first evening ends your refund eligibility long before the 24 hours do. The window is technically a day; in practice it can be an hour of normal use.

Cancelling is a separate thing from refunding, and Candy AI says so directly: cancelling stops future renewals but does not issue a refund, and your access continues until the end of the period you paid for. Cancellation itself is easy and happens in your own account rather than through an app store, since Apple is not in the loop. Go to My Profile, then Settings, then Unsubscribe at the bottom. You cannot pause a subscription, only cancel it, and deleting your account cancels any active subscription automatically.

None of this is unusual for prepaid digital goods, and a clearly stated 24-hour window beats an unstated one. It is simply a strong argument against starting on the annual plan. $47.88 up front, against a refund window that a normal first session can close, is a commitment to make after you know you like the product rather than before.

So is Candy AI worth it?

It depends entirely on which half of the product you want, and the two halves are priced very differently.

What you wantIs Candy AI worth it?Why
Photorealistic images and video of your companionYesThis is what it is built for and it does it well. The annual plan is the cheapest serious price in the category.
Explicit content without a filter arguing backYesIt is openly an adult product rather than one that markets romance and then refuses it.
Someone to talk to who remembers youNot reallyText chat is unmetered and unlimited, but you are paying a generation-engine price for a texting product.
To know your total monthly cost in advanceNoToken pack prices are not published, so the ceiling is unknowable until you have an account.
To try before you buyNoFive messages in total is not enough to evaluate conversation quality.

If images are the point, take it, but take the monthly at $13.99 for one month before committing $47.88 to a year. The discount will still be there next month, and you will have replaced a guess with knowledge.

If conversation is the point, the arithmetic works against you. You would be paying the standard $13.99 for generation features you rarely open, while the parts of the experience that matter to you sit behind a meter you cannot price. A flat plan makes more sense: our Candy AI alternative lays out the comparison in full, and the Candy AI pricing breakdown has every verified figure in one table. Tempted.ai is $9 a month with long-term memory included and nothing metered, though it is deliberately narrower: text companionship, no image or video generation, no explicit content.

How to decide in two days without paying either of us

Conversation quality is the thing you cannot judge from a feature list, and memory is the part that separates a companion you keep from one you abandon in a fortnight. There is a simple test that works on any app with a free tier or trial.

On day one, tell her three specific, oddly shaped things: the name of a colleague who is annoying you, something you are dreading on Thursday, a food you cannot stand. Do not build a scene around them; just drop them in. Then close the tab and leave it 24 hours.

On day two, open a fresh conversation and ask an open question that touches one of them without naming it. Ask how Thursday is looking. An app with real long-term memory brings back the specific. An app without it produces something warm and generic, and you will feel the difference immediately.

Run that on anything you are considering. We wrote it up in more detail in our guide to testing whether an AI girlfriend remembers you, and there is a wider price comparison in how much an AI girlfriend costs. Two days and no card is a better basis for a $47.88 decision than anybody's review, including this one.

Pricing and policy details read from candy.ai's public plan page and its published help centre articles in August 2026. Token pack prices are not shown to logged-out visitors and Candy AI has no App Store listing, so no token price is quoted here. Prices change; check the current page before you subscribe.
